Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is a slow and subtle technique to release tension from the fibrous bands that surround the muscles, bones, nerves and joints. Its aim is to unblock any scar tissue or adhesions that have occurred due to injury in the muscles and surrounding tissues, by stretching, loosening, softening and lengthening the muscle.
The strokes used are in the direction of the muscle fibres to encourage the muscles to lengthen and at times they may be held for approximately two mintues in order for the technique to have its full effect on the muscle. The same stretch is often performed more than once so that the muscle is totally relaxed and a release is felt. A great way to experience the total release of body tension.
